The world in deep slumber awaits the first rays of the sun. The morning bird song can be heard at a distance. Satsuma at once drops her belongings and starts walking uphill barefoot. Setting foot in the unknown. Crisp autumn leaves adorned the path, unwinding deep into the forest. One-step. Two-step. Three-step. Long before the sun came overhead, she crossed the rainbow bridge and is greeted by the Dodo bird. “So long my friend!”, Dodo exclaimed in delight. Dodo bore a hand to many in reading the mysterious map of Thingamajig.

After several failed attempts, for the very first time, Satsuma felt the tender presence of Dodo. What had changed this time? She thought out loud. Any-who. A deep sigh. Who was she to answer; the eye can see only what the mind can comprehend. Complete surrender to her circumstances moving her in inexplicable ways. No more push-and-pull.

Dodo reveals the Manifold Way to the little-known hot springs. Hurriedly, Satsuma leans to the right. Her eyes move past the cherry blossom tree, mapping the trail to the far end where it turns and runs parallel to the rivulet. She swallowed a lot of air and fear began to hold her back but before it could tell terrible lies, Dodo sang so loud. Sang so clear. She returned to the self. Dismantling the fear’s grip, Satsuma is ready to take on this journey. Harmonious sounds are created and echo over the steps. Slowly changing time.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled, And out you stepped onto new ground, Your eyes young again with energy and dream, A path of plenitude opening before you.
– John O’ Donohue
